it's my birthday...

i can celebrate two days if i want to! it's no lie i love birthdays. i love celebrating. the birthday weekend started at lil vinnie's. this quaint little italian restaurant in the old city. it was so fun to be with good friends and laugh over some dang good food!

then on my birthday i celebrated with my family and my friends. my friends and i met at barley's, and of course i got the celebration ale. what else would you get on your birthday?! then the night ended with sassy ann's but that goes without saying!


my 23rd birthday was full of surprises--getting to see two friends unexpectedly, full of laughs, full of friends, full of celebrating, and full of wisdom! holla!

this past weekend, my friends and i headed to a hockey game...the first for all of us. we went to cheer on the ice bears in our star wars masks-obviously! what else do you wear to a hockey game? it was so fun! we chanted, we laughed, we made little friends, we saw light sabers, we saw a fight, we won! for the first hockey game...it was a successful! puck yeah!!

a tootin' night at toots.

the name can be deceiving. BUT it's a hole in the wall karaoke joint. my favorite kind of place! a little karaoke and a lot of laughs. we happened upon it spontaneously...we took a chance and it was great!! there are some videos, but that's for another day...so here's to singing songs loudly and badly with a room full of strangers...the best way! holler!

year in review.

what can i say...2012 was a pretty durn good year. helped move that bus for ty pennington. saw the most beautiful sunset. partied like i was 22. went to europe. graduated college. became a grown up. got a job. spent lots of time in my pajamas. had lots of laughs. survived the end of the world. saw kathie lee and hoda. had lots of tears. learned i had great aim with gun-a bb gun. dove out of plane. spent time with some of my favorite people. i got big hopes for 2013...so cheers to that! holla.

three cheers for christmas.

it's officially christmas time. so of course i've been doing all things christmas... i've been listening to christmas music. been bundled up. wearing my christmas jammies. drinking tea. wrapping presents. and my personal favorite-watching christmas hallmark movies.

but christmas is really about a time of waiting. waiting for the arrival of the king...the one true king. i don't really like to wait, but i like waiting in this season of advent. i don't want to miss it. so here's to waiting!

thankful for pumpkin pie.

every year around thanksgiving, pumpkin pie makes me miss my dad. it is one of my favorite desserts, and it was my dad's very favorite. ever since i can remember we would make it together. it's such a simple recipe. he didn't really need my help to make it, but he always wanted my help. it's something i miss and cherish. for the past three years i still make him his pumpkin pie and eat a slice just for him! so, i'm thankful for pumpkin pie and the memories i cherish because of it.

elvis is still in the building.

this past weekend i ventured down to nashville to see one of my favorite people...miss chelsey! it was so fun to get to visit her and see how she does life there. we laughed A LOT, we played, we shopped, we talked, we ate, we met friends, we ate, we tried to go to concerts-we failed, we laughed, we saw elvis...he is still alive. i'm really happy about this! it was such a fun weekend! thankful for her and our friendship!

fallin'.

it's officially my favorite part of the year. the leaves are painted with pretty reds, oranges, and yellows. i can wear my beloved blue jean jacket with everything. this fall has been full of pumpkin bread, cozy sweaters, boots, camping, crisp weather, fall festivals, football games at my old highschool...go dawgs, adventures to asheville, singing my heart out to my bff t. swift. (what would i do without her?) so here's to fallin' in love with fall, once again.

friends.

no, not the tv show. these are some friends almost as great as ross, rachel, monica, chandler, phoebe, and joey. just kidding they are better. since becoming a working girl it has been hard to see my friends. i'm tired after work, other's schedules are crazy, or i'm already in my pajamas...which happens a lot. it has taken a bit of adjustment too.since i don't see my friends as much as i used to, i savor the times when i do even if all we do is sit, it's special to me. so here are some of my babe of my friends on a night on the town. we sure did paint it red.

moonshine monday.

on monday, tennessee welcomed kathie lee and hoda in a big orange way. it was a sea of orange, tons of posters, and lots of rain. it was so fun to see them in person, get all hyped up for the show, and kind of be a part of it. it's pretty apparent that they left vol fans...i mean who wouldn't? even though it rained, i would do it all over again! plus kip moore was pretty good to look at...i could do that again.

life lately.

never never land.

no, i'm not talking about michael jackson's house. i'm talking about the place in peter pan where you go to not grow up...i want to go there! i've tried thinking 'happy thoughts' to try and get me there, but it hasn't worked. let me know if anybody knows a different way.

working is hard. i'm tired by 8 o'clock. i am still get adjusted to this new chapter of my life. i'm so excited for what it holds, but what i would give to not grow up and stay little forever. but really what is the fun in that?

my weekend with the lumineers.

i have a new found appreciation for the weekend now that i'm a working gal...even though i haven't been one for too long. really not long at all. but still, i will enjoy my weekend to the fullest!

after dinner with friends, one friend in particular loves concerts and i love going to them with her! we decided to trek downtown to see if there were any sweet angels selling tickets to the sold out concert...there was and his name is charles. we negotiated and still probably paid too much, but it was spontaneous and so fun! as mal said, "separated by seats but united by the lumineers". so true. we danced and sang and sat separately!

the rest of my weekend, i spent it lounging around watching dawson's creek.

ch ch changes.

big changes are happenin' in my life!

-i finally received my diploma. it's official...i'm a college grad-weird.

-i got a big girl job. this little mama is working 8:30-5:30. i'll be filing papers, binding documents, making pop corn, answering lots of different phone lines.

-i took out my nose ring. moment of silence, please. i have had that thing for 4 years. it was a part of me. i'm currently going through the 5 stages of grief.

-i'm a grandma and look forward to going to bed at 9.

berlin.

berlin was our last stop on our european adventure. it's where we began and where we end. it was a great place to bookend. we were greeted both times by our friends and that was about as good as being home. at this point of our trip we were tired and just didn't want to think about what to do...this was the perfect place for that to happen because we had little tour guides who knew the city pretty well. we didn't have to think just follow. we saw the holocaust memorial, hitler's old bunker which is now a parking lot, the berlin wall, checkpoint charlie, and graffiti everywhere. we even got to spend fourth of july there. it wasn't as good as spending the fourth in AMERICA but it was pretty darn good. we cooked out and tried to be as american as we could. it was the perfect sendoff! by the end of the trip we were ready to get back home-the land of the free restrooms, free refills, and deodorant! thankfully my mom changed my flight so i could get back the same day as bec and jenn. otherwise i would have been back a day later with a long layover over night in the amsterdam airport. so thank goodness for mamas.

that concludes my europe trip!

paris.

i absolutely loved paris! we all had heard that you either love it or you hate it...and i loved it!! we didn't too anything too exciting there. since it was our last major stop we just took it easy. we walked the pretty streets and explored the louvre where becca discovered her love for a particular painting! we sat in front of the eiffel tower on multiple occasions. the tower is breathtaking!! we drank wine, ate cheese and baguettes, laughed, and watched the tower twinkle at night. oh, and don't worry, we totally fought with each other with our baguettes...just like mary-kate and ashley. we modeled a lot of paris trip after them. (passport to paris) we discovered this little place that made crepes and became friends with the owner...there are too many stories with that. let's just say we stayed for 2 hours waiting on our crepes one night because we were 'friends'-he kept telling us stories and showing us videos. we were ready to leave after about 15 minutes.

when kyle and meg left us to go home. bec, jenn, and i traveled to versailles. getting there was quite the adventure. i think we took the slowest train there. we explored the palace and also a gas station because we missed the stop for the palace. we took part of happy hour, and then we went on our merry way to berlin to see our friends.
