a little date.

today was a day i went on a little date by myself. i treated myself to a movie...the three stooges. the only reason i went to it is because i know my dad would have loved to have see it, (he always loved them and would always do their eye pokes and their little noises) so in a sense i went with him. during the movie, i heard his laugh, i saw his smile, and i could see the joy come across his face. it really was a special little date, and i'm thankful that i got to spend 2 hours laughing and remembering with my dad.

memory lane.

i have been taking a long, little stroll down memory lane because this week is the last week of classes. what? where did the time go? am i really finished with college? yes, i know that i technically have 4 more weeks after this term, but let's take baby steps! i'm still counting this as my last week. i mean really, where did the time go? i still feel like a freshmen.
along my walk down this memory lane, i remember all the wonderful things and really hard things that have happened these past four years. as much as i loved high school, i know that during these college years i have learned a lot about myself.
i remember all the road trips i went on, i remember when i found out i would be doing young life at hva, i remember going to big mama's on countless occasions to sing my little heart out, i remember all the football games and tailgates, i remember all the late nights i stayed up with my roomies being silly, i remember camping in my backyard, i remember tears, i remember how my family came together, i remember being shown love by so many different friends, i remember concerts, i remember laughing until pee my pants.
there are so many more memories, and i couldn't be more thankful! i'm excited for the future...even though i don't know what the heck i'm going to do. (i should probably get on that) but it's kind of fun not knowing and just letting go of that control. so here's to these wonderful four years!

just a little senior skip day.

i decided to be a rebel and skip TWO whole classes...i know, i'm so crazy!! my friend, chelsey, is getting ready to hopefully move there, and she had a bunch of interviews in nashville. so after i got the invitation to tag along, i didn't hesitate (i did look at my planner first...but shh) to go to one of my favorite places and explore that fun little city in a day. we woke up with the sun. we talked about life. we laughed a lot! we ate yummy food. we had lots of diet dr pepper. we drove down a one way street...whoops. but really funniest moment. we shopped and thrifted. we even made time to go to the DQ and get some ice cream cones!

it was so fun to spend the day with this lady and catch up on life, she is such a great friend with such a trusting, humble heart in the lord...she is proof that after a hard time, the only peace you can have is peace that comes from the lord. she is living one day at a time-something i strive for.
so thanks chelsey for letting me tag along!!!

a senior skip day for the books!
*we forgot to take a pic so we took one at the DQ...great scenery!

weekend update.

this weekend update does not feature seth meyers from snl. i wish it did! this weekend has been very productive. that's a very big surprise to say the least! i have a lot of final projects and papers that are due at the end of the semester...which is in 2 weeks? what?! so crazy...then i go back for a hot sec and finished forever. but that's beside the point. i finished all my papers and projects, and it is such a relief. now, i can just hang out with felicity and the gang. ( i'm hoping to be graduating with them...i'm still on their junior year) i also went to the downtown dogwood arts festival, which happens every year, with my mama. it was a fun little afternoon where we took free milk shots, (who knew that could be so fun) ate really yummy salted caramel ice cream, and wandered through the food truck line and the vendor area. it was so fun to enjoy the beautiful weather downtown and see lots of familiar faces. all in all it was a great weekend! here's to the week ahead. i'm going on a little adventure tomorrow. senior skip day for me-holler!!!

easter sunday.

easter sunday was very relaxing and spent with my family-minus my brother daniel. we celebrated the day going to church and being reminded of what jesus did for us and how important it is to tell people about this sacrifice. we celebrated by being lazy and taking naps. we celebrated by watching bubba watson put on that green jacket after his big win. (*sidenote: he is my new favorite golfer. i have always liked him ever since my brother showed me the golf boys video, but he was able to proclaim the gospel after he won the masters...on easter. how cool is that?)

The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling,
a scrubby plant in a parched field.
There was nothing attractive about him,
nothing to cause us to take a second look.
He was looked down on and passed over,
a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand.
One look at him and people turned away.
We looked down on him, thought he was scum.
But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him,
that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He took the punishment, and that made us whole.
Through his bruises we get healed.
We're all like sheep who've wandered off and gotten lost.
We've all done our own thing, gone our own way.
And God has piled all our sins, everything we've done wrong,
on him, on him. -Isaiah 53.2-6 (the message)

on this good friday, i remember how undeserving i am and how beautiful grace is.
